February 7, 2025: Friday Medley!
Happy Friday!
Valentine’s Day is OFF-Day
Valentine’s Day is next Friday, February 14, 2025, and is a scheduled off-day. There are no regular lessons on this day. Since it is a scheduled off-day on the studio calendar, there are no make-up lessons needed for this day. It is part of the regular schedule.
Enjoy the day!
Forum
Forum this week is offered on Friday, February 7, at 7:30-8:00 pm and 8:00-8:30pm, and Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 8:15-8:45, and/or 8:45-9:15 am. No Forum on Sunday, February 9 (enjoy the Super Bowl)!
Forum takes place in the Suite 205 Ensemble Room. Each Forum consists of two 30-minute sessions. Students can attend one or both sessions. So, students could come from 8:15-8:45, and/or 8:45-9:15 am.
You do not need to RSVP or register for Forum. You just show up! Students are encouraged to perform, but if you prefer to just watch, you can do that, too! Time permitting, students can perform more than once.
Performing students will be asked to introduce themselves, and to name the songs and pieces they will be performing. Students will be encouraged to learn and to demonstrate good performance practices, such as being gracious, being supportive of other students and performers, and bowing to acknowledge our audience and express gratitude.
If there are more than one student in attendance, all students commit to attend the full 30-minute session, so that all students have an audience for the full session.
Forum provides a low-stress, casual, comfortable, and supportive environment for students to practice performing. Students can also use the time to rehearse duets, small combos, musical theater pieces, and more.
Students who are earning prize tickets by performing more songs from memory in their lessons, can redeem some or all of their prize tickets for actual prizes at Forum. A team member will be present at each Forum to help students redeem prize tickets for prizes! Prize redemption will be open right before and after, and during intermission, but not during the performances.
Studio Theme for the Season
From now until the end of March, join in the fun and learning by participating in our music studio theme for the season: Songs of the Irish and Springtime.
In addition to the first day of Spring, St. Patrick’s Day, Valentine’s Day, President’s Day, various patriotic holidays, as well as the Persian New Year (Nowruz), fall during this period. Students will be learning music related to and expressing these themes, and discussing with their teachers how the music they are already learning might relate to and express these themes.
Recitals Coming Up
We have quite a few recital opportunities coming up! Remember, recitals are one of the best ways to enjoy the music students are learning. Making music with other musicians and for a friendly audience offers many personal rewards and satisfactions, and encourages students to prepare, plan, and practice! Regular performances in welcoming environments promote confidence and help children, youth, and adult students learn to command the stage.
