Studio Theme for the Season and Next Theme Recital: Songs of the Irish and Springtime

Thank you teachers who have begun incorporating our season’s theme into your music lessons with students! Students are asking about it and parents are signing them up for our recital! Be sure to participate!

We had a wonderful recital experience last night with terrific students playing “sets of music” on a beautiful Steinway 9’ concert grand. Some students played two songs or pieces, some students played many more (one student played 12 short songs, from memory, including knowing his set list from memory). Many were short songs and pieces, some were longer, including a few masterworks.

It was a pleasure and a joy to work with teachers this past Thursday! A special Thank You to Mr. Denny and Miss Suzanne for helping to lead some sessions. The feedback from everyone was very positive!

Teacher Seminars January 2, 2025

We are ON for our teacher seminars on Thursday, January 2, 2025. This is the day after New Year, and also the last day of our off-week over the New Year holidays. (We have regular lessons again starting on Friday, January 3.)

Teaching Lessons - Starting and Ending Shifts

The general rule is that we arrive 15 minutes prior to our first lesson, and stay for 15 minutes after our last lesson. There are some predetermined exceptions to this general rule, and these are exceptions that we have worked out for various reasons. But besides these exceptions, the rule should be followed all other times. 15 minutes before, and 15 minutes after. Barring exceptions, if you arrive 5 minutes late for work, it will mean you arrived only 10 minutes before your first lesson. Arriving 5 minutes after the lesson start time means you are actually 20 minutes late for work.

Q: When should students begin preparing for recitals?

A: Students should always be preparing for recitals. Students should perpetually be developing and perfecting their repertoire of memorized and performable music. When recitals come, they should be picking what pieces they will perform from their repertoire of prepared music.
