Teachers and Staff: Happy Saturday!

Studio Theme for the Season and Next Theme Recital: Songs of the Irish and Springtime

Thank you teachers who have begun incorporating our season’s theme into your music lessons with students! Students are asking about it and parents are signing them up for our recital! Be sure to participate!

Remember, one option is to assign them a new piece. Another option is to talk about how the theme relates to or is expressed by some of the music they are already familiar with or learning.

I will be posting simplified arrangements of additional themed songs and pieces of various levels as well in a shared Google drive. Please send me requests as well, and I will do what I can to help!

Students are encouraged to play two or more songs or pieces from memory. They do not all have to follow the theme. If one does, that is sufficient. All music for themed recitals should be played from memory (no music sheets or books, if at all possible).

This is a studio-wide theme for this period of time. All teachers should encourage their students to participate in the theme, regardless whether they will play in the culminating performance.

Calendar

Remember to check your music lesson calendar (Google Calendar). We use it as a communication tool. We try to send emails and sometimes texts to you when things change, are added, or subtracted. But the calendar also contains information.

Be sure to look inside the details. Different devices format and label these fields differently. But look for descriptions, notes, etc. Sometimes a summary display only shows the first line of a description or note, and so you have to open it up fully to see everything.

MODIFY items tell you when something that is on your regular recurring schedule changes for this one day. Introductory Lessons are labeled clearly (also one-time events). All-Studio items may supersede your regular calendar (such as off-days).

Lessons are ON for this day!

Teacher Resources Folder (Google Drive)

This Google folder has some documents and items that might be useful to teachers. This folder will grow and evolve over time, and hopefully contain more and more useful information. We have to share this folder with each teacher individually. Please try it and if you do not have access, please let me know.

Technology in Lesson Rooms

You should be able to access the technology in all lesson rooms. If you are unable to login to the computer, or connect to the TV, soundbar, Bluetooth, printer, scan, etc., please let Mr. Denny or the Office know. Don’t give up! Strive to make it easy for you to use the technology.

An important part of music education is listening to music, and watching the work and technique of other music and artistic performers. Teachers are encouraged to play music and show videos and images to students. Many important “off-bench” and musical activities can be facilitated with music and multimedia. Historical and cultural connections can be made. Musical interpretation and use can be discussed. Joy and other emotions can be experienced. Please be encouraged to use effectively in your lessons.
