January 4, 2025: Saturday Remix
Teachers and Staff: Happy Saturday!
Welcome back from our holiday break, and Happy New Year!
It was a pleasure and a joy to work with teachers this past Thursday! A special Thank You to Mr. Denny and Miss Suzanne for helping to lead some sessions. The feedback from everyone was very positive!
Keep an eye out for future teacher seminars. I am hoping that over time we are able to do them more and more regularly. We'll for sure hold some over the next big off-week period around Easter/April, 2025.
We Supply all Books, Materials, Sheet Music…
Remember that we (the music studios) supply all music books, materials, sheet music, etc. to students. If you wish for them to have something they don’t have, please send an email to office@dennisfrayne.com. Please make your request as detailed as possible - an actual link to the item is best. Please never ask a student or parent to purchase anything without running it by the office first. (We will most often purchase it for them.)
Teachers are welcome and encouraged to provide special arrangements of music for their students. For example, if you arrange a simplified version of a video game song, or a pop song, etc. You can even have the student help you with this in their lesson! Projects like this become fantastic opportunities to teach music theory, musicianship skills, composition, songwriting, etc.
Tote Bags for New Students
Tote bags for new students are hanging in the suite 107 reception area. When you have a new student, be sure to pick up their tote bag. These will often contain books, pencil pouch, stickers, and other goodies. Sometimes they are coupled with gear (for example, drum students receive drumsticks and practice pads). Students should receive them on their first day of lessons. Be sure to pick them up - it is an exciting part of their first music lesson!
Always have students write their names in all their books! (But no Sharpies! Use a pencil whenever possible.) And remind students to bring their tote bags and books to every lesson!
Piano Teacher Certification Classes
I would like to form two piano teacher piano Presto! It's Piano Magic certification classes. The classes will be weekly, 60 minutes, and will last several months or more. Teachers are paid for the time they attend classes.
Book 1, Thursdays, 7:30p
Book 2, Mondays, 7:30p
(Book 2 teachers must complete Book 1 first.)
If you are interested, please email me and let me know. If there is enough interest, we will start a class. dfrayne@dennisfrayne.com
Special Theme Recitals coming in January and March
Look for email communication about the theme recital, roster, and program for Friday, January 10, 2025. If your student is on the program, please spend special time their first lesson back in January to polish and prepare for this recital.
Our second theme recital is coming soon on Friday, March 14, 2025, evening (a few days before St. Patrick’s Day!) Teachers should begin helping students learn an Irish song and/or music related to Springtime. Discuss with your students; everyone should participate whether they will ultimately perform in the recital or not. This is a studio-wide theme.
Q. How many lessons are required to complete before a student may participate in a studio recital?
A. One! (at any/every level)
Thank you, everyone, for all that you do!
Have a magical Saturday, a musical weekend, and a very happy beginning to the new year!
Thank you,
Dennis Frayne
